About 0 bits of entropy. Words come from EFF's Long Wordlist of 7,776 words (CC BY 3.0 US).
Why passphrases work
Each word picked at random from 7,776 adds almost 13 bits of entropy, so six words give about 77 bits, while staying easy to read and type. The words must be chosen randomly, not by you: a sentence you make up is much easier to guess.
Where to use one
Use a passphrase for the few passwords you type by hand: your KeyCare Pass master password, your computer login, your phone. Let the password manager handle the rest with random passwords.
The word list
The words come from EFF's Long Wordlist, made by the Electronic Frontier Foundation for picking passphrases with dice and published under the Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY 3.0 US).
Never make up a password again
KeyCare Pass makes strong passwords, remembers them and fills them in for you.
Frequently asked questions
How many words should I use?
Six or more for a master password. Five can be enough for less important accounts, though a random password filled by a password manager is better there.
Should I add capitals and numbers?
They add a little strength and help with websites that insist on them. An extra word adds more.
